Country Christmas

Life is all about Christmas right now .... so another Christmas card. I stamped my base first by colouring my stamp with markers and spritzing lightly with water before stamping. I then did the second layer, colouring the cabin with the dark reds and using the same colours on the trees, then spritzing with water. I stamped the sentiment then die cut the cabin with stitched circles and attached the second layer to fun foam before attaching to the card base, I then added more fun foam to the back of the stitched circle and attached it in place, the coloured the circle with Wink of Stella Brush. I wish it would show up in pictures as it is so pretty IRL. A few sequins finished my country scene ... oh I coloured a yellow hue in the window for the lights inside the cabin.

Cardinal Christmas

I am continuing to work on my Christmas cards, having finished my cards for Caring Hearts. This is a digital image but I don't know the source for some reason. I watercoloured using Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Zig Brushes then matted with the lavender cardstock, and stamped my sentiment with Intense Black Ink. I am very pleased with how it all turned out.
Thank you for having a look today ...

Asian Lovliness

This is only a sampling of the dies from the latest release by Frantic Stamper called Visions of the East. They are all beautiful. For the above card I used the Fancy Peacock die. I die cut using watercolour paper and coloured using my Zig Brushes. For the background I stenciled using satin embossing paste and added a vellum border stamped in gold embossing powder using the Celebrations stamp set. I added a few gems amongst the feathers and card to finish.
This is the wonderful Koi and background die. As you know I love the CAS look, and I think the paper is beautiful with the Koi as the star. I did cut the background in a soft gray and the Koi in orange cardstock to keep that CAS feel. A funny story with this card to share. While making it my Cockatiel was sitting on the back of my chair. When I die cut the orange Koi and put it on the table, he jumped off and went after it. We had to have a conversation ... that fish is mine .... not his dinner!
I used several dies on this card, and more of the beautiful Washi Paper, that can also be purchased at Frantic Stamper. From the Asian release I used the Bamboo Stalks which I coloured with Zigs Brushes. I die cut the Bump Card Scalloped Circles from the Barnyard Fun release and the sentiment is from the Celebrations Stamp Set.
If you have watched the video release you will see a bunch of different uses for this beautiful die Chrysanthemum Panel. I cut my panel in Neenah 120lb cardstock to add dimensions with the flowers and coloured using Chameleon Markers. I also embossed my background for even more texture and added a few sequins to finish. This is such a pretty die.
For this card I used the 3-step Chrysanthemum Stamp Set, using just one of the petals. I taped off the sentiment portion of my light Ivory cardstock and stamped using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, then stamped off with the same colour for the lighter petals. I stamped the sentiment and flourishes in silver embossing powder and did some scoring on each side of the sentiment. I then matted with the pink and attached to a Ivory base.
And finally for this card I used some of the beautiful Washi Papers along with the Bump Card Scalloped Circle die from the Barnyard Fun release. I die cut the Bonsai in a light green cardstock and painted the pot with gold ink and attaching with dimensionals. I love this die and these papers.
I hope you have enjoyed my sampling of this latest release and that you will visit Frantic Stamper to see more.
Thanks for visiting ... have a great day!

Glam Birthday

A December birthday card for a dear friend. I had such fun making this card. I tried to make it so it would fit in with the Christmas cards she will be getting from her friends and family. I heat embossed the background stamp using clear embossing powder, then watercoloured with my Zig Brush, adding more colour in certain spots, then die cut my piece using my stitched rectangle die. I die cut the stitched circle and cut the left side to fit my card nicer and then clear embossed my sentiment using Tim Holtz Ripe Persimmon and attached to the card with foam strips. I die cut the wishing sentiment and balloon in the gold glitter paper, and attached the sentiment with glossy accents and the balloon on dimensionals, and also added the gold cording. And, of course I would have to add some sequins for that extra bit of glam. Thank you for visiting today.

Serene Bamboo

Today I would like to share with you this beautiful stamp called Bamboo and Bird Sumi-e from Art Neko. I wanted to do some watercolouring with this stamp, so I inked the stamp with ink and spritzed with water before stamping. With my aqua brush and a lighter shade of green I added more colour to the bamboo. I then added mustard seed along the right side and a few other spots in the bamboo, including the birds. Once dry I added some tumbled glass ink pulling it out with my aqua brush, and dried once again. I then outlined with my Zig Brush Cobalt Blue and pulled that out a bit with my aqua brush. I thought it would make a very pretty birthday card so I stamped my birthday sentiment and die cut with my stitched rectangular die. I am pleased with the results. Thanks for visiting today ...

With Sympathy

I don't think any of us like to do Sympathy cards, but life doesn't work that way. Longtime friends suddenly lost their son, which makes it even harder. They live in beautiful British Columbia, so I went with the birch tree  stamp set I have from Altenew. Using my Misti, I arranged the tree trunk and stamped the base, then stamped the top panel. While still in my Misti, I masked the trunk, and stamped the branches, on both the base and the top panel as I did not decide where to cut the top panel until I had it out of my Misti, so best to have it all covered. I cut the top at 2.75 inches and put it back in my Misti to use the magnets to keep it in place while I stamped the leaves in fall colours.  I then added the gray matting and stamped
the sentiment. Thank you for visiting today.

Wishing You

This is my card as part of the design team for Splitcoaststampers' Clean and Simple Challenge. We are to use some kind of Christmas Foliage. I love this Oregon Fir Tree, and I decorate with cuttings from fir trees, so I decided I wanted to use this die. I just wanted a different design from a scene, and this is what I came up with. I die cut the trees using Arches Watercolour Paper and coloured with Zig Brushes in the Olive Green for the tree and Mid Brown for the trunk. For the back tree I painted several layers getting darker as I went, doing the front tree the same, but not quite as dark. I attached the back tree to my embossed card base. I heat embossed my sentiment on the stitched circle, and attached it using dimensionals. I then attached the top tree and added gold sequins to finish.

Create

I took a break from my Christmas cards this morning by playing along in the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers which covered a Pinterest Page on Journaling. I do not journal about my life, but I do stamp and colour in my Webster Planner. The stamp above was one of the first stamps I used in this years Planner, so I decided to use it for the challenge, and I used this creative note as my inspiration. I did a Bister background with my stencil, which was already on my desk, then stamped my sentiment using black embossing powder to have it stand out from the background, and it adds another layer of texture. I really like the way it turned out. Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope your day is Creative.

I am thankful for My MISTI (I have the Mini and the Original) for
several reasons. My stamping life changed immensely when I bought my Mini Misti. Suddenly stamping became fun and not a chore to be ignored. My Mini Misti has given me the confidence and the push to delve into the stamping world.
And, I have never looked back! With the Misti, I can ink my image as many times as needed to get that beautiful finished look. If I miss part of my stamp when inking, not a problem, I re-apply the ink and stamp again. And, my stamped images are straight - finally, which makes such a difference to a finished card. I could go on, but let us get on with the hop!

Following is my card that I made for today's hop.
I lined up my paper following the lines on the Mini Grid
Paper. I did not need to use the magnets as I was
stamping on 140lb watercolour paper with a cling foam stamp. My experience has been the paper stays in place, and it did. I inked my image several times for that great impression, but I also wiped the stamp and inked in a different colour for this image.
I then trimmed my paper down and sponged on additional distress inks in Fossilised  Amber and Ripe Persimmon.

With my aqua brush I activated the distress inks, adding
a bit more of the Rusty Hinge as need.

I then matted my panel to black cardstock and adhered
to my card base and place it back in my Misti to add some leaves falling, but wanted  a bit of pop, so I stamped my leaves in Intense Black. And, as this little leaf is very old, it took several inking's to get that good impression.
I then added my sentiment, also stamped in the
Intense Black Ink.

My finished card with a few sequins added for a
bit of sparkle.

Snowflake Noel

I wish you could see the sparkle on the snowflake, it is so pretty IRL. The Clean and Simple Challenge at SCS is to find inspiration from Spanish surrealist Salvador Dali. I went to the Dali Museum and was immediately struck by the architecture of the museum itself. Digging a bit further I found this cuff designed around the museum, which inspired my card. I stenciled using Salty Ocean Distress Ink for my background, then heat embossed my sentiment in silver embossing powder. I die cut the snowflake from silver metallic paper and for more sparkle I painted it with Wink of Stella Brush. I then added the gem and a few sequins.
Thanks so much for visiting today....

Tea Light Easel

I have never done an Easel card before and the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast today was a Pinterest Board showing Spellbinder Dies. When I saw this window die I was reminded of Tea Light Easel Cards. I thought it would be nice if the card was done in metallic to further reflect the glow of the tea light. For the base, I added some designer paper, along with a couple of stitched petal dies and a bow done in metallic red. I used the reverse stitched country stars for the "window", backed with heavy vellum. I used the negative stars, sponged with some red ink, at the top of the card. The Joy sentiment is cut from the red metallic, and the petal die is embossed with more stars. Now that I kind of know what I am doing, I will do more of these for friends. Thank you for visiting today.

Poinsettia Greetings

For this card I first heat embossed my Poinsettia with gold embossing powder and while stamping I stamped the image on photocopy paper and cut out to make a mask. I then watercoloured the Poinsettia and the background using Winsor Newton Paints. I added the speckles using gold and green and a bit of , and dried before continuing. I placed my panel in my Misti and covered the poinsettia with my mask, then inked my background script stamp in Shabby Shutters for a light script in the background, but it did take a couple of goes to get the colour the way I wanted. I also used my Misti for my Christmas greeting which also took several inkings for good coverage. And finally, I die cut my panel with my stitched rectangles and added a few sequins. This was fun to make, and I made it to finally play along in the CAS Watercolour November Challenge.

Season's Greetings

I did the background for this card by masking around the edges of my 4 x 5.25 panel with 1/2 inch masking tape, then laid my stencil on top and taped it down to secure. I sponged using Tim Holtz Distress Inks Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters and Festive Berries and Candy Apple, then added red glitter marker to the berries for some sparkle. I then embossed my stitched rectangle die as a border around my sponged background. I positioned my card in my Misti to stamp the sentiment which I stamped first in red then in black to get the deep burgundy look. I die cut my flowers using watercolour paper and painted with Zig Brushes in light pink and red, in several layers, then added gold gel pen to the centre of the flowers. A few sequins finished my card, ready for the Caring Hearts Card Drive. Thank you for visiting today.

Joyful Snowmen

Below is the sketch for the challenge at Splitcoaststampers today. I turned the sketch to suit my snowmen, and for the fourth #3, I used a circle representing a half done snowman and used it to add my sentiment. I embossed the background then die cut a snowbank for my snowmen. I paper pieced the hats and scarves and attached them along the snowbank on dimensionals. The Joy sentiment is cut three times and coloured with a Zig Brush. A few sequins completed my card.
Here is a close-up showing the details a little better.
